Creating Your Tea Towel Design

Your design can be created on paper or digitally or using a combination of both. Either way it should be at the final print size required or in the correct proportions to the final print size of your chosen product. This is to prevent your design looking distorted if it has to be stretched to fit.
For product sizes and print areas please use our templates (Here).
For school tea towels or similar please use our School Tea Towel Artwork Guide (Here)

If you are sending artwork on paper:

For single colour designs or outlines it is best to use white paper and a black pen – a gel pen or artists’ graphic pen is perfect but not biro or pencil. Any pencil lines you have drawn over should be carefully rubbed out and any mistakes covered over using white correction fluid.

When adding colour, please bear in mind that reducing the number of colours will keep your overall costs down and can make your finished product look more striking.

If you have any handwritten text that you would like us to typeset then please let us know the font you would like us to use. If your chosen font is not readily available then we may suggest something similar or ask you to send the font. Similarly if you have a logo to be added to your design, we can do so from either a digital file at a minimum of 300 dpi or from a clear printed copy.

If you are sending several drawings which you would like us to layout for you then please enclose a rough sketch of your preferred layout and we will compile your drawings for you.

There is no extra charge for typesetting, adding your logo or compiling your layout.

If you are sending artwork electronically:

Please refer to the relevant downloadable product template pdf when preparing your artwork.

The templates give you the print area for placement prints as well as the print area for edge to edge prints. For edge to edge prints please bear in mind that 0.5 cm of the design at the outer edges will lost in hemming.

When sending scanned artwork, please ensure that images are at a minimum of 300dpi a FINAL print size (and not upscaled).

Single colour images should be sent in greyscale and multi-colour images in RGB.

We can accept the following file types:
Print ready PDF – please convert any text to outlines or send with fonts embedded
Illustrator EPS or Photoshop PSD, tif or jpeg
Coreldraw CDR

If possible an ICC profile should also be embedded in digital files especially for 4 colour process printing.

We can accept digital files by email, via a file sharing service such as dropbox or wetransfer, on a CD or USB stick.

If you have any queries as to whether your file type is suitable then do please give us a call.
